“Every time a Lancaster took off, a thousand Tufnol parts went with it.”
This wartime saying showed Tufnol as the epitome of UK-made, high quality and reliable composites for the aircraft industry.

Aerospace Engineering and CNC Machined Parts

Tufnol composites materials have benefited the aircraft industry throughout its history due to their unique properties:

1/3 the weight of aluminium

High strength

Non-corrodible

Dimensionally stable

Chemically resistant

Tufnol epoxy resin bonded grades

The Tufnol epoxy resin bonded grade range of materials has been tested by NASA and approved for use in space. These composites have low out-gassing properties and can easily withstand the exigencies of working in space and display total reliability when functioning under such unusual and extreme conditions.

Today our materials development expertise keeps us apace of the needs of the modern aerospace engineering industry. Customers include:

Applications include:

Used in Commercial Airliners

Our composite materials are used on commercial passenger airliners including Airbus A320, Boeing 737 and Boeing 757, proven to offer outstanding durability in the most demanding environments.

Our materials are used by leading aerospace OEMs and supply chain manufacturers all around the world, who trust Tufnol’s 100 years of materials expertise.

Our materials are used in applications from cockpit window frames to fuel line rib clamps.

We specialise in both hard points / inserts and specialised componentry which requires compliance with demanding regulatory standards and airliner approvals.

Uses in satellites

Components made from Tufnol epoxy grade materials help to supply power and control satellite telemetry.  Longevity and durability are essential for any components involved in satellite missions and Tufnol expoxy grade materials meet this criteria successfully, giving many years of service.

NASA’s vision

We reach for new heights and reveal the unknown for the benefit of humankind. Tufnol is proud to support NASA in the realisation of their vision.

Starchaser Project

Starchaser Industries, a privately held, high technology group of companies that specialises in the development, operation and commercialisation of space related projects and services, plans to become the first private company to put tourists into space in their 70ft Starchaser rocket.  Based in the UK, their outreach team carry out educational activities and visit over 200 schools per year.  Tufnol epoxy grade materials feature in their rocket design.

Quality

At Tufnol Composites, quality is our watchword and an integral part of our culture. Our quality systems are routinely subjected to scrutiny by a number of independent inspection authorities and major international companies who rigorously audit our ISO 9001 and AS9100 accreditations.
