On this heavily loaded 1000-ton hydraulic plate-bending machine, Bear brand TUFNOL bearings and seal rings were fitted to the backing-up rollers.
In spite of the arduous conditions, the bearings are standing up well after five years of continuous service.
When operated under conditions of maximum load, the pressure on each TUFNOL bearing is in the order of 8,500 lb/sq. in. The rubbing speed is approximately 8 feet per minute.
There bearings use a molybdenum-disulphide grease as a lubricant.
